  • The Night Is Just Beginning (2022/06/23 10:00)
Vocal artist Mariana Sadovska traveled along the front lines of the first invasion of the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine from 2014 to 2016, giving benefit concerts and meeting people in the war-ravaged area. Based on her journey, she created a unique musical story - The Night Is Just Beginning - that is all too relevant today. This excerpt of the performance, called "Tovye Imya" (Your Name), begins with the instruction, "Take only what is most important." There is no need to understand all the lyrics. Allow the full understanding of the moment one becomes a refugee to arise as you listen and consider how you might choose.
  • Down By the Riverside - Playing for Change (2022/06/16 10:00)
What if we as a society could say we were going to live in the Spirit of Love, cooperation and nonviolence and "study war no more"? This song performed by the Playing For Change organization has inspired many people all around the planet to work together for a better world. Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band—a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation—a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, Playing For Change aims to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet.
  • Why Lakes and Rivers Should Have the Same Rights as Humans (2022/06/09 10:00)
Who is water? This question presents a fundamental change in thinking by giving legal personhood to water and will transform our approach to water as a culture. In this TED talk, Kelsey Leonard argues that water needs legal rights just as people do. Leonard is a legal scholar and scientist in the the Shinnecock Nation--an indigenous tribe of people in the state of California, USA. Her tribe believes that water holds memories and therefore holds life. Water is alive to the Shinnecock. Holding a glass of water in our hands, do we too have such appreciation for this vital substance? Do we truly revere the lifegiving power that water holds in our lives? Giving water legal rights would be one way to fight injustice towards water, the land and all beings who love and live on the earth.
  • Let the Sun Rise (2022/06/02 10:00)
We all have days when things don't go as smoothly as we'd hoped and we have to make peace with things as they are. Fortunately the sun rises again each morning for all of us and we get another chance to see what the day will bring, to try again and to meet each moment with hope and to practice the art of living. Rejection, fears, doubts and failure are simply part of the human condition. Acknowledging the reality of what we have experienced allows us to move forward into the next moment without bitterness or expectations. Such an attitude gives us the potential to be open to something new and completely different. What is important is to stay connected to one's inner self--the True Self, that is not subject to the external idea of success--and to remain receptive to life as it is coming to us. Next time you have a "bad day" remember that the sun will rise again tomorrow and with it the opportunity for a new beginning.
  • Buddha of Oakland (2022/05/26 10:00)
When Dan Stevenson placed a stone Buddha across the street from his house in Oakland’s Eastlake neighborhood, it was out of desperation. The corner had become an impromptu dump. City signs warning of punishment did nothing to change things. Dan asked himself if there might be another approach; something simple. He never imagined the positive energy chain that would ensue.
  • Living in the Time of Dying - Trailer (2022/05/19 10:00)
Michael Shaw, the creator of this compelling documentary, describes it as "a journey seeking to both face up to the global changes we are collectively facing, as well as an exploration of how to meet this time with a ready, willing heart." Through a series of in-person interviews with key people who are exploring the vast challenges of living during the global crisis, the film calls for the courage and acceptance needed to face the stark reality of the unfolding climate tragedy, while doing all that we possibly can to help each other live through it.
  • Beyond Polarity (2022/05/12 10:00)
This animated video offers hope for creating together the world that honors our collective needs by building on what unifies us. To make personal change that scales up to social change requires meeting our most important needs and recognizing that people are different. These differences can add color and richness to life and they can also be polarizing. Knowing another person's needs is a starting point for understanding and co-creating the world that meets our collective needs.
